Job Title: Sleep Lab Tech
Job Summary:
A sleep lab technician works under physician supervision to prepare patients, operate monitoring equipment, and record physiological data during overnight or daytime diagnostic testing for conditions like sleep apnea
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Preparation: Explain testing steps, review medical history, and attach sensors (EEG, EKG, and breathing monitors).
- Monitoring: Watch vital signs and sleep patterns in real-time; apply therapies like CPAP or BiPAP when needed.
- Data & Equipment: Calibrate testing devices, troubleshoot technical problems, and record accurate clinical data.
- Post-Study Duties: Disconnect patients, score sleep records, and compile reports for physician review.
Qualifications:
- CPSGT or RPSGT
- RRT
- BLS/CPR
Education:
High school diploma or GED; completion of a specialized polysomnography program is preferred.
