Job Opening: Skilled Trades Instructor

About the Role
West Virginia Women Work is hiring a Skilled Trades Instructor in Fairmont, WV.
This role is responsible for delivering hands-on construction training that prepares women for entry into the skilled trades. This position offers flexibility while making a direct, life-changing impact on participants.
What You’ll Do
- Teach hands-on training in entry level carpentry, electrical, and/or plumbing fundamentals
- Instruct participants in tool use, jobsite safety, and basic trade math
- Deliver training through workshop-style sessions, small groups, and occasional simulator-based learning
- Support self-paced virtual learning through WV Women Work’s Interplay Learning platform (training provided)
- Mentor and support women entering the trades
- Assist with credential preparation (OSHA-10, certifications, etc.)
- Coordinate with program staff to support participant progress and employment pathways
- Maintain tools, equipment, and ensure safe training environments
- Collaborate with local unions, contractors, and employers to support job placement pathways
Work Schedule & Structure
- Flexible scheduling (aligned with training cohorts)
- Typical training occurs during daytime hours
- May include a mix of:
- On-site instruction at the Fairmont office/classroom
- Occasional travel to partner sites
- Limited remote support for virtual learning

Qualifications
- Experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or related trades (any combination)
- Comfortable teaching beginners in a hands-on environment
- Reliable, patient, and able to lead a group
- Passion for helping others succeed
- Teaching or mentoring experience is a plus, but not required
