This job is for you if...
You've been the person at your company or agency who actually figures out why marketing is or isn't working. You look at the numbers, talk to the client, and decide what needs to change. You've done that for local businesses: the plumber, the dentist, the roofer, the law firm. You know what it feels like when a business owner calls you because the phone stopped ringing, and you know how to find the answer.
Maybe you've been doing this at an agency where you were more of a messenger between clients and specialists, and you're tired of relaying other people's opinions instead of giving your own. Maybe you're an in-house marketer at a home services company and you want to work across more businesses and channels. Maybe you ran your own small agency and you're done with the business side but you still love the client work. Or maybe you're a specialist in one channel who's ready to own the whole picture.
Whatever the path, you have real opinions about marketing, you back them up with data, and you'd rather own the outcome than hand it off to someone else.
What this role actually is
You own your clients' marketing. All of it. You're the person they call, the person who understands their numbers, and the person who decides where their budget goes and why. When something breaks, you diagnose it. When something works, you figure out how to do more of it. When a business owner asks "is my marketing working?", you already know the answer before they finish the question.
You'll spend about 30% of your time talking to clients. The rest goes to the actual thinking and analysis: reviewing performance, catching problems early, deciding what to change, and directing an execution team that handles the volume work based on your direction. You'll carry somewhere between 12 and 40 accounts depending on their size and complexity, starting with smaller ones and growing into larger clients as you prove your judgment.
This is not a project management role. You are not moving tasks between people and hoping the work turns out well. You set the direction, you check the work, and you answer for the results.
What your first few months look like
In the first 30 days, you'll get trained on our systems, meet your initial clients, and start learning how we operate. By 60 days, you're running your own client calls and making recommendations on your accounts. By 90 days, you own your portfolio. You're making the decisions, catching the problems, and building the kind of trust with business owners that keeps them around for years.
What makes someone good at this
You think like an owner. When you see a problem on an account, your instinct is to dig in and fix it, not flag it and wait. You take it personally when something underperforms, and you get satisfaction from figuring out why.
You can talk to business owners. The people you'll work with are direct. They run companies. They want to know if their marketing is bringing in customers and what you're doing about it when it's not. You match that energy. You don't hide behind jargon or dashboards.
You know local marketing. You've worked with businesses that depend on phone calls, booked appointments, and showing up when someone nearby searches for what they do. You understand what matters to a plumber in Phoenix or a dentist in Dallas, because you've been in the weeds with businesses like theirs.
You're strong in at least one or two marketing channels, and curious about the rest. You don't need to be an expert in everything. We have senior people for that. But you need enough range to look at a client's full marketing mix and know whether the pieces make sense together.
You follow through. If you tell a client you'll have an answer by Friday, you have it by Friday. You don't need someone managing your calendar or chasing you for updates. You keep track of what each account needs and you get it done.
What you don't need to worry about
You won't be doing everything yourself. We have an execution team that handles the high-volume day-to-day work: the recurring adjustments, the content scheduling, the report assembly. You tell them what to do, you check what comes back, and you own the quality. You also have senior channel directors you can lean on when you hit a question outside your depth. You bring a recommendation, they sharpen it.
If you haven't worked with every type of local business we serve, that's fine. A roofer's marketing and a pest control company's marketing have more in common than you'd think. If you know one well, you'll pick up the others fast.
About Rossman Media Group
We're a marketing agency built around local service businesses. Home services is our core: HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical, garage doors, pest control, restoration. We also work with law firms, dental practices, med spas, veterinary clinics, and other businesses where the revenue comes from the phone ringing and appointments getting booked.
We manage the full marketing mix for these clients across paid media, organic search, social, email, creative, and more. Budgets range from $500 to $20,000+ per month. Because we work with dozens of similar businesses in the same industries, we've already seen what works and what doesn't before your next client even signs. That accumulated knowledge is what makes us different, and it's what you'll carry into every conversation.
Compensation
$60,000 to $100,000+ total compensation, depending on your experience.
