Role Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our steel production site in Apple Grove, WV, as we move through our commissioning and launch phase. This position offers the chance to take full ownership of a capital project, overseeing the installation of HVAC systems for the entire facility, including specialized control rooms and PLC areas. You will collaborate closely with site management to plan and execute these installations, ensuring that the project aligns with our operational efficiency targets and real-world plant conditions.
Core Duties

Direct the on-site HVAC installation process across the plant, ensuring all work adheres to safety protocols, engineering designs, and regulatory codes.

Act as the main liaison for all mechanical and HVAC installation tasks, managing the efforts of internal teams, vendors, and external contractors.

Create and oversee the project timeline, prioritizing tasks to ensure steel manufacturing operations remain uninterrupted.

Collaborate with leadership to optimize installation strategies, helping to improve overall plant efficiency through practical layout and sequencing recommendations.

Utilize mechanical blueprints, HVAC schematics, and PLC specifications to provide clear direction for field teams.

Resolve installation challenges as they arise by facilitating communication between millwrights, electricians, and controls specialists.

Safeguard sensitive equipment by ensuring control rooms and PLC areas maintain precise humidity, temperature, and pressure standards.

Monitor project logistics, budgets, and milestones, proactively reporting potential risks to management to keep the project on track.

Oversee the testing, balancing, and final documentation required for the successful commissioning of new HVAC systems.

Uphold a culture of safety by ensuring all project activities remain in full compliance with OSHA and local site regulations.
Professional Requirements

Possess at least five years of experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within a heavy industrial or steel manufacturing environment.

Hold a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or demonstrate equivalent practical expertise.

Show a proven track record of managing HVAC installation projects from the initial planning stages to final startup.

Maintain a solid understanding of the infrastructure and environmental needs specific to PLC control rooms.

Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, HVAC schematics, and equipment specifications during field operations.

Exhibit the ability to thrive in an active industrial plant environment while effectively coordinating diverse trade groups.

Communicate complex technical trade-offs clearly to leadership to drive informed decision-making.

Commit to a full-time, on-site presence at our Apple Grove, WV facility.

Bring prior experience working within the steel, aluminum, or heavy metals manufacturing sectors.

Possess familiarity with the environmental installation requirements for PLC platforms like Siemens or Allen Bradley.

Hold a PE license or be in the process of obtaining professional engineering certification.

Demonstrate capability in managing subcontractors and utilizing scheduling software such as MS Project.

Operational Setting
This is a full-time, on-site position located at our steel manufacturing plant in Apple Grove, WV. The role requires frequent presence on the production floor, where you will encounter industrial noise, heat, and heavy machinery. Proper use of personal protective equipment is mandatory at all times.
