Job Description
Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, this position operates various machine shop equipment including but not limited to: manual Lathes (Lg. & Sm.), various saws, cutters and other shop equipment and tools.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Setting up manual machines such as lathes and milling machines (a plus), including selecting and mounting the correct tools and fixtures.
- Cutting, shaping, and fabricating parts from various materials to meet print dimensions and tolerances.
- Select the appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for each job.
- Using measuring instruments like micrometers and calipers to measure and inspect finished parts to ensure compliance to print.
- Maintain machines and equipment and perform routine maintenance as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies and procedures.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, climb or balance, stoop and kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Required Experience/Skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors.
- Must be able to read prints (drawings) for machining, measurement and assembly of components.
- Ability to work with power tools and other shop equipment as needed.
- Manufacturing mindset of urgency and quality.
- Time Management.
- General computer knowledge.
- Mechanical aptitude needed to perform work safely and productively.
- Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing.
- General knowledge of overhead crane operation and forklift a plus.
