A leading civil and utility contractor is expanding its Mechanical Division and is looking to hire an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to support one of the fastest-growing areas of the business.
This team delivers complex utility and energy infrastructure projects throughout the Northeast, partnering with major clients including National Grid, Eversource, and GE Wind. Projects include underground utility installation, pipeline and process piping work, welding, trenching, directional drilling, underwater utility crossings, and relocating critical electrical infrastructure beneath active roadways.

What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare detailed conceptual and hard bid estimates for complex mechanical and utility infrastructure projects.
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate labor, equipment, and material pricing.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive cost analyses.
- Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Work closely with operations and project management teams to develop competitive bid strategies.
- Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving solutions.
- Participate in bid reviews, scope analysis, and proposal development.
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients throughout the estimating process.
Project Experience

- Underground utility infrastructure
- Gas and power utility work
- Mechanical piping systems
- Process piping
- Structural and industrial welding
- Underground trenching operations
- Utility relocations beneath roadways
- Underwater boring and utility crossings

- Heavy civil mechanical construction
Clients include major utility providers and energy companies such as National Grid, Eversource, and GE Wind.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of mechanical estimating experience within heavy civil, utility, industrial, or mechanical contracting.
- Strong estimating background in piping, welding, underground utilities, or industrial mechanical systems.
- Experience pricing large-scale infrastructure or utility projects.
- Ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of subcontractor procurement, material pricing, and labor productivity.
- Experience using industry estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
