Job Description
The primary function of this position is to drive a refrigerated straight truck (26’) and manually unload meat, produce and other restaurant products, using a power / hand truck or two-wheeler on metal truck ramps or lift gates, to customer drop-off sites while providing excellent customer service. To ensure success as a CDL driver and a high level of customer service, all functions must be completed with high attention to the products and quantities being delivered, as well as to ensure a safe and timely delivery.
Job Responsibilities
- Safely drive to and deliver customer orders to meet scheduled customer times and maintain adequate productivity rate to meet delivery schedules.
- Unload products from the trailer with a hand truck or by hand and place items in designated customer storage areas.
- Count and verify delivery of correct items with customer and obtain proper signatures.
- Collect money (cash or checks) where required.
- Return any rejected or unsold merchandise along with the completed and signed credit memo form.
- Communicate with company’s dispatchers, and other team members to make deliveries or pickups.
- Deliver high customer service- customer interaction.
- Willing and able to perform repeated, manual heavy lifting of items 50 pounds or more.
- Make frequent stops during a work shift.
- Drive and work in inclement weather conditions.
- Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts (OTR).
- Performing basic truck maintenance to ensure good operation conditions as well as cleanness, before and after use; all issues must be reported to management.
- Be responsible for equipment used, including trucks, pallet jacks and the like.
- Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations are to be followed always.
Job Requirements
· Class A CDL with clean motor vehicle record (MVR) and accident history
· Must be 21 years of age and fluent in English, per DOT requirements
· Ability to operate manual transmission preferred
· Must take and pass DOT drug testing as condition of hiring (as well as random monthly testing)
· Ability to use handheld devices to operate the ELD and other DOT compliance requirements
· Ability to lift 75-85 pounds as needed
· Great attendance record

Experience:
- Commercial driving: 2 years (Required)
