Required Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Sterile Processing Technician/Technologist in a hospital or surgical environment.
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing and infection-control procedures.
- Experience with surgical instruments, instrument trays, decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different hospital policies and procedures as a travel healthcare professional.
- Current required certification/credentials, if applicable to the facility or assignment.
- Required immunizations, health screening, background check, and drug screening as applicable.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a hospital Operating Room or Central Sterile department.
- Knowledge of complex surgical instrumentation.
- Experience with steam sterilization, low-temperature sterilization, and high-level disinfection.
- Familiarity with sterilization tracking systems and instrument management systems.
- Knowledge of AAMI and AORN standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Travel Assignment Requirements
- Willingness to travel and work at different healthcare facilities.
- Ability to adapt to different workflows, equipment, and facility procedures.
- Flexibility to work assigned shifts, weekends, holidays, or call when required.
- Ability to complete facility-specific orientation and competency requirements.
Schedule
- Full-time travel contract
- Shift may vary based on assignment
- 8-hour or 10-hour shifts may be available
- Weekend/holiday requirements may apply
- Overtime or call may be required depending on facility
- Operate sterilization equipment such as steam autoclaves and other sterilizers according to facility policies.
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before packaging.
- Assemble surgical instrument sets and trays accurately according to preference cards and department standards.
- Prepare instruments and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Maintain proper documentation of sterilization cycles and quality-control activities.
- Monitor sterilization indicators and biological/chemical monitoring results as required.
- Follow AAMI, AORN, OSHA, and infection-prevention standards and facility policies.
- Maintain accurate inventory and ensure sterile supplies are available when needed.
- Transport sterile and contaminated equipment safely according to established procedures.
- Identify and report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning instruments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sterile processing environment.
- Work collaboratively with operating room staff, nurses, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow all applicable infection-control and patient-safety procedures.
Pay: $38.00 per hour
