Quality Inspector
Location: East Aurora, NY
Pay Rate: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing team in East Aurora, NY. This position is responsible for inspecting precision-machined components manufactured from stainless steel, titanium, and other exotic metals to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a precision manufacturing environment, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements, and proficiency with precision measuring equipment. This role works closely with machinists and production personnel to maintain our commitment to delivering 100% quality and 100% on-time performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect machined components at inspection and production stations and report findings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Perform first-piece inspections and verify product conformity.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) on manufactured products.
- Perform random inspections and quality audits throughout the manufacturing floor.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments including:
- Micrometers
- Calipers
- Comparators
- Vision systems
- Dial gauges
- Pin gauges
- Precision gauge blocks
- Verify dimensions, concentricity, squareness, parallelism, surface finish, and overall product quality.
- Conduct visual inspections using microscopes to identify burrs, surface defects, and finish issues.
- Accurately document inspection results and non-conformances in written and electronic formats.
- Collaborate with machine operators and production personnel to ensure quality standards are met.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or team leads.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years of inspection experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Working knowledge of GD&T principles.
- Experience performing first-piece and first article inspections.
- Proficiency using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Knowledge of CMM programming.
- Experience using PC-DMIS software.
- Experience inspecting CNC-machined components manufactured from stainless steel, titanium, and other exotic metals.
