Bay City Academy is a tuition-free public K-12 charter school with over 350 students in Bay City, Michigan. We seek a responsible, reliable, dedicated bus driver to join our Bay City Academy Family!
Nature of the Position:
The bus driver is responsible for transporting students to and from various school sites and events and ensuring their safety while passengers are on the school bus. The bus driver is also responsible for ensuring the safety of all passengers, including special education students, while operating the assigned bus and maintaining the designated bus in a safe operating condition.
Responsibilities of the Position:
● Subscribe to the motto “Action Over Words, Service Over Self”
● Bus drivers support Bay City Academy students by transporting them to and from school on scheduled routes and to/from special events and trips
● Drivers are responsible for ensuring the bus is in safe operating condition and for students' safety during transport, loading, and unloading from the bus
● Follow precise schedules and routes and adjust driving according to traffic and weather conditions
● Follow the rules of the road, ensuring the safety of children
● Available between the hours of 6:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and possible athletic evening trips
Requirements for the Position:
● Exemplary, regular, and predictable attendance is essential
● The employee must be physically present and alert at all times to successfully perform this job
● Must be able to perform the tasks of the job physically (including but not limited to pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, basic vehicle cleaning, and assisting students when necessary)
● Must possess a proper CDL license (B, S/P & Air brake endorsements)
● Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
● Able to meet all other requirements as set forth by the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan Department of Education for school bus drivers

Pay/Other:
● $200 staff uniform stipend every year

● Competitive pay based on experience, ranging from $21-$26 per hour

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour
