RDH- Our busy family dentistry practice in Kentwood (SE Grand Rapids) is looking for a Dental Hygienist to join our team any days of the week. We are seeking a friendly and motivated individual. Experience is preferred. Hours are flexible but the office is currently opened M 11-6, Tues 9-6, Wed 9-5, Th 8-5, Fri 8-2. Would prefer candidate who has local anesthesia certification or is willing to obtain it. Hourly wage based on experience, 401k plan with matching, uniform allowance and paid CE. Position would start ASAP.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate, and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dental care team. The Dental Hygienist will play a vital role in providing preventive and therapeutic oral care, educating patients about proper oral hygiene practices, and supporting the overall mission of McCoy Family Dentistry to promote long-term oral health.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform dental prophylaxis, including scaling, polishing, and root planing.
- Conduct thorough oral health assessments, including charting and periodontal evaluations.
- Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays).
- Apply preventive materials such as fluoride and sealants.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Assist the dentist during procedures when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment according to infection control standards.
- Stay current with dental hygiene best practices, new technology, and continuing education.
Qualifications
- Licensed Dental Hygienist in Michigan.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Current CPR certification (provided by practice)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to educate and motivate patients toward better oral health.
- Attention to detail and commitment to patient comfort and care.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Open Dental
- Familiarity with digital radiography and intraoral scanning.
- Experience providing local anesthesia
