Contract Period: 190 days / 7.5 hours per day
Pay Rate:
- Registered Nurse (RN): $34.00 to $38.00 per hour
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): $25.00 to $29.00 per hour
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must hold an LPN license or higher nursing degree
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding district matters
- Demonstrated competency as a skilled healthcare worker
- Willingness to work under the supervision of the School Nurse
- Sensitivity to the health needs of students across varying age groups, cultures, and socio-economic backgrounds
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff
- Flexibility and willingness to perform additional duties as assigned by the Board
Reports To: Building Principal, School Nurse, Superintendent
Job Goal: Implements mandated and other health programs as determined by State and administration
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receive and assess students presenting with health-related symptoms
- Provide basic first aid in the absence of the School Nurse, in accordance with established standing orders, district policy, and applicable regulations (28 Pa. Code § 23.79)
- Communicate student symptoms and concerns to the School Nurse in a timely manner
- Contact parents/guardians regarding student health concerns as directed by the School Nurse and in accordance with health room guidelines
- Initiate and conduct follow-up communication with parents/guardians as requested
- Assist the School Nurse with maintaining accurate and up-to-date student health records
- Support required state-mandated screenings, including height, weight, and BMI documentation
- Assist in maintaining and verifying student immunization records for compliance
- Support scoliosis screenings as directed
- Schedule students for health screenings such as vision, hearing, dental, and physical examinations
- Coordinate with other school districts to obtain or transfer student health records under the direction of the School Nurse
- Assist in completing school accident reports
- Administer medications in accordance with district policy
- Assist with head lice screenings and follow-up procedures
