- MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT- FULL TIME
Hours: 40 hours per week, Weekends: Every Other Weekend On Call
Shift: Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:00 pm
Connecticut Baptist Homes, Inc. is a not for profit campus in Meriden CT with a health care continuum offering care and independent living services. POSITION: Maintains and repairs the facility's physical plant and its various systems including plumbing, electrical, painting, and structural and equipment. Safely operates equipment, power and hand tools. The Maintenance Assistant takes direction from and reports to Maintenance Supervisor.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participates in the preventive maintenance program ensuring maintenance is performed on all equipment and systems according to established schedules and maintains appropriate logs.
- Provides service to independent retirement community including routine maintenance, surveillance, responding to work requests.
- Performs light carpentry work including repairing doors, ceilings, hand railings, and floors.
- Performs preventive maintenance duties, including changing filters, oiling motors, replacing light fixtures, inspecting/adjusting belts, replacing motor bearings, aligning shafts and annual inspections as directed by manufacturers.
- Documents and reports activities to supervisor.
- Responds immediately to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, power and equipment failure, etc.)
- Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives as relates to building operations and practice safe work habits.
- May be required to work extended periods of time when responding to emergency situations.
- Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility or retirement community preferred.
- Ability to perform and working , electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping tasks including painting, and shoveling snow.
- Patience, understanding and a positive attitude are necessary.
- Valid drivers license and safe driving record required.
- Must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19
