Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated CMA Team Lead to join our healthcare team immediately. This leadership role is designed for an energetic professional passionate about senior care, patient advocacy, and team development. As a CMA Team Lead, you will oversee Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) in delivering exceptional patient care within diverse healthcare settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, and home care environments. Your proactive approach will ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, foster a collaborative team atmosphere, and uphold the highest standards of patient safety and confidentiality. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of Certified Medical Assistants to ensure efficient patient care delivery.
- Provide mentorship, training, and support to team members on clinical procedures, documentation standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee medical documentation processes including EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems such as Epic and Cerner to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Assist with patient assessments by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and supporting medication administration in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to state healthcare regulations, including those related to senior living facilities, hospice care, Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, and memory care.
- Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote clear understanding of care plans.
- Manage manual handling tasks such as heavy lifting and patient transfers while maintaining safety protocols for staff and residents.
- Monitor compliance with first aid, CPR certifications, and basic life support standards among team members.
- Support the implementation of specialized care protocols for individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring tube feeding or catheter care.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all documentation aligns with legal requirements for medical records management.
Experience
- Proven experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals or home & community care environments.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical setting or as a team supervisor within senior or medical care environments.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior health issues including dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with electronic health records is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations along with experience maintaining patient confidentiality across various settings.
- Hands-on experience administering medications, managing vital signs, performing catheter care, tube feeding support, and other resident personal care assistance tasks.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or complex medical needs; experience in hospice or acute care settings is advantageous.
- Knowledge of state Board of Nursing requirements and healthcare regulations governing senior living facilities and medical documentation standards.
- Excellent communication skills for caregiver coordination and resident engagement; ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting safely.
