We are seeking an organized, relationship-focused Math Teacher to support our students as they complete online mathematics coursework while ensuring they remain on track for graduation and college eligibility.
Position Summary
This is not a traditional classroom teaching position. Rather than delivering daily lectures, the Math Teacher serves as an academic facilitator, mentor, and instructional coach. The ideal candidate will monitor student progress, provide individualized academic support, clarify mathematical concepts, communicate with families, and ensure students remain accountable for meeting academic expectations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor student progress within the school's online learning platform.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group academic assistance in mathematics.
- Help students understand concepts, solve problems, and develop critical thinking skills.
- Maintain regular communication with students regarding assignments, deadlines, and academic goals.
- Collaborate with school administration regarding student performance and intervention plans.
- Track grades, attendance, and course completion.
- Maintain accurate academic records and documentation.
- Support students in developing effective study habits, organization, and time management.
- Participate in parent conferences and academic meetings as needed.
- Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment centered on accountability and student success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Secondary Education, or a related field.
- Valid Florida teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain certification) preferred.
- Experience working with middle or high school students.
- Comfortable utilizing educational technology and online learning platforms.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and build positive relationships with student-athletes.
- Passion for individualized education and student success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a private school or blended-learning environment.
- Knowledge of Florida graduation requirements and NCAA academic eligibility.
- Experience using student information systems and learning management systems.
