JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Under the direction of the Production Control Manager, the Shipping Coordinator is responsible for arranging freight, submitting necessary documents on customer portals, processing export documents as needed, and processing/entering necessary quality documents required for shipments. The Shipping Coordinator may assist production control with following up on production lots processing through manufacturing plant and subcontract, assist with order entry, review EDI schedules and triggers as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Comply with all safety and health guidelines, quality standard practices/procedures, and housekeeping standards.
- Schedules customer shipments, via carrier or web as required.
- Utilize customer portals to submit shipping and quality documents.
- Processing export documents as needed
- Assist with order entry for commercial work
- Review EDI schedules and triggers as directed
- Works with manufacturing as well as subcontract suppliers to expedite parts to ensure on time delivery to customers.
- Cross-trains for coverage
- Maintain records, prepare reports, analyze data.
- Aid the development of shipping, receiving and subcontract standard practices and procedures.
- Assist with corporate quality system processes and participate in internal audit programs.
- Supervisory Responsibilities – None.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
This position requires a high school diploma or HSED equivalent and also requires three to five years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment, with 3-5 years of experience in shipping and/or receiving; or equivalent combination of education and training.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees to share information, solves problems, and instructs or train employees. Must have the ability to read and interpret complex documents such as blueprints, shop orders, work plans, and short correspondence. Must be able to write standard reports and documentation.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must possess good computer skills and ability to create spreadsheets and charts and analyze data through Excel or ability to learn how to use Microsoft Office products. Requires the ability to operate various equipment and lifting devices. Requires a broad knowledge of general manufacturing and machining practices. Knowledgeable or familiar with applicable ISO/TS and quality system requirements and policies. The ability to multi-task, demonstrate strong organizational skills, and good judgement is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop or kneel, talk or hear, and reach above shoulders. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:
Safety glasses and safety shoes must be worn in all manufacturing areas. Additional PPE may be required as needed.
