POSITION SUMMARY: The Painting and Maintenance Technician prepares surfaces, applies protective or decorative coatings, and operates specialized spray equipment to deliver smooth, high-quality finishes throughout the facility. In addition, this role performs a variety of general maintenance duties to keep the facility grounds and building operating smoothly, cleanly, and safely.
RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Surface Prep: Clean, sand, tape, mask, and prime surfaces, walls, ceilings, and structures to ensure optimal coating adhesion.
Mixing and Matching: Mix chemical compounds and paint formulas accurately to match target colors and precise ratios.
Application: Use spray guns, rollers, brushes, or specialized equipment to apply uniform, high-quality coats of paint, varnish, or protective sealants.
Inspection and Maintenance: Check finished surfaces for runs, bubbles, or defects and touch up as needed; clean spray equipment, tools, and booths, disposing of hazardous materials safely and properly.
Works closely with and follows directions from the Maintenance Director.
Maintains facility buildings, resident rooms, and grounds in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
Makes minor repairs on handrails, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings, beds, wheelchairs, electrical equipment, sprinkling systems, emergency lighting, and changes filters on HVAC equipment.
Takes care of assigned painting and maintenance tools and equipment.
Remains on call, when assigned, for 24 hours a day.
Assumes supervisor’s responsibilities in their absence.
Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes individual needs and rights.
Performs other maintenance and facility duties as requested.
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL / VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience with surface preparation, professional coating application, and spray equipment operation.
Basic knowledge of general facility maintenance, including basic wiring, plumbing, and carpentry.
Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language.
JOB SKILLS:
Good organizational and color-matching skills.
Agile and in good physical health to perform lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES:
Interacts with residents, families, visitors, and employees in a professional and friendly manner.
Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention or physical participation is required.
