The Assistant Director is responsible for developing, delivering and managing the Child Care Program in order to ensure a safe, developmentally appropriate environment for children.
Reports to: Owner/Director
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist and obtain directives from the Director/Owner
- Responsible for preparing appropriate work schedule to ensure guidelines for ratios of staff to students are met
- Ability to use basic math skills to compute rate, ratio and percent
- Maintenance of student files, including medical and emergency contact information, and records of any behavioral incidents.
- Ensures program compliance with all licensing and safety regulations
- Update licensing paperwork and schedule any needed inspections
- Maintain staff records to ensure records are in compliance with licensing and continuing education requirements
- Keeping attendance and health and safety records
- Prepare the menu for school snacks and lunches, in accordance with program guidelines
- Monitor and observe staff performances and appearance
- Ensures program compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies
- Develops and updates program procedures to ensure compliance and appropriateness
- Coordinate and provide training, and guidance to staff
- Other duties as assigned

Working conditions:
- Work weeks are 5 days, Monday through Friday...minimum of 8 hours per day
- The Assistant Director is frequently exposed to noise and a regular flow of people around the office
- The Assistant Director is frequently assigned to changing priorities
Employment Requirements:
- Knowledge of Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Adequate experience working with children in an educational, health, recreation, social service or day care setting
- Good knowledge of child development activities
- Good knowledge of child care techniques
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Fill in as each: cook, all duties as needed
- Must be flexible
