Responsibilities
Assist dentists during clinical procedures by preparing treatment rooms and passing instruments efficiently using four-handed dentistry techniques. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring all medical documentation complies with HIPAA regulations. Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort. Perform chairside assisting tasks such as taking vital signs, explaining procedures to patients, and maintaining aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Support administrative duties by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow smoothly. Ensure infection control protocols are followed rigorously through proper sterilization and handling of dental tools and materials. Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures by creating a friendly environment for young patients and understanding pediatric-specific dental terminology.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside support, X-ray processing, and medical imaging. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and infection control standards essential for safe practice. Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry procedures. Understanding of pediatric dentistry principles to effectively support young patients’ needs. Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and explaining procedures clearly to patients.
