Today, Harris Jeweler is a thriving luxury jewelry store operating from our beautiful new 6,000-square-foot showroom in Troy, Ohio. We are seeking an experienced, driven, and detail-oriented Luxury Retail Buyer to help shape our merchandise assortment and continue our tradition of excellence.

This is not a corporate buying position buried under layers of management.
You will work directly with ownership and play a key role in determining what products our clients see in our showcases every day. Your decisions will directly impact sales, profitability, and the future growth of our business.
You'll attend major industry trade shows, work with leading luxury brands, discover emerging trends, and help curate one of the region's finest jewelry collections.
What You'll Do - Merchandise Buying & Assortment Planning & Display
- Select and purchase fine jewelry, bridal, fashion, custom, and luxury gift merchandise.
- Analyze sales trends, inventory performance, and customer demand to optimize product assortment.
- Forecast inventory needs and identify opportunities for growth.
- Attend industry trade shows, vendor presentations, and buying events.
- Research emerging trends and new product opportunities.
- Research and plan inventory placement and display merchandise.
Vendor & Brand Management
- Build strong relationships with designers, manufacturers, and suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, memo programs, returns, exchanges, and special purchases.
- Evaluate vendor performance and maintain a healthy, profitable vendor mix.
- Partner with vendors on promotions, trunk shows, and exclusive opportunities.
Inventory & Pricing Strategy
- Manage inventory levels, replenishment, and product lifecycle.
- Monitor aging inventory and develop strategies to improve turns.
- Maintain accurate product records, costing, and pricing.
- Ensure merchandise is correctly entered into store systems and ready for sale.
- Partner with accounting and management on inventory valuation and reporting.
Business Analytics
- Review sales performance and key inventory metrics.
- Analyze sell-through, gross margin, turns, and profitability.
- Prepare buying recommendations and inventory reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins and reduce excess inventory.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with ownership, sales professionals, and management.
- Train staff on new merchandise and product knowledge.
- Assist with seasonal merchandising plans and special events.
- Help ensure our product offering reflects the luxury experience Harris Jeweler is known for.
What We're Looking For
Required
- 3+ years of buying, merchandising, inventory management, or purchasing experience.
- Experience purchasing luxury, premium, or specialty retail merchandise.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to interpret sales reports and inventory data.
- High attention to detail and follow-through.
- Professional, trustworthy, and team-oriented mindset.
- Microsoft Excel experience.
Preferred
- Fine jewelry industry experience.
- Experience with Balance to Buy or Luxe point of sale.
- Gemstone, diamond, or luxury goods knowledge.
- Experience attending trade shows and managing vendor relationships.
