Duties
- Safely operate charter buses, school buses, paratransit vehicles, or other commercial passenger vehicles according to all traffic laws and company policies
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and mechanical readiness, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and fluid levels
- Transport passengers to designated destinations while maintaining punctuality and adhering to scheduled routes
- Communicate clearly with passengers using effective language skills; assist children or seniors with boarding and disembarking as needed
- Manage behavior on board through positive behavior management techniques to ensure a respectful environment for all passengers
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing passenger questions or concerns professionally and courteously
- Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage logs, incident reports, and vehicle inspections
- Follow all safety protocols related to child care or senior care when transporting vulnerable populations
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; appropriate commercial driver’s license (CDL) with passenger endorsements required
- Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or commercial driving roles; familiarity with paratransit or <PERSON> driver certifications is a plus
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse communities
- Mechanical knowledge for basic vehicle troubleshooting and maintenance awareness
- Experience working with children or seniors; understanding of behavior management techniques for different age groups
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety and attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of local traffic laws and regulations related to commercial driving
