POSITION: Shipping Clerk I / Receptionist
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Scheduled Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Shipping Supervisor
SUPERVISES: None
Position Summary
The Shipping Clerk / Receptionist is responsible for processing shipping orders in a timely and accurate manner. This position requires daily communication with a wide variety of individuals, including management, peers, growers, truck drivers, and sales staff—and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Must maintain a professional demeanor and work closely and cooperatively with all team members to ensure efficient shipping operations.
Duties and Responsibilities – Operations
- Serve as the primary contact for all shipping functions, including order processing and adjustments as needed.
- Collaborate closely with the Shipping Foreman and shipping crew to ensure smooth operations.
- Coordinate inter-company shipping requirements with Domex Marketing and other group shippers.
- Maintain compliance with the USDA Mexico Export Program; attend related meetings as required.
- Ensure compliance with all other export and food safety programs.
- Interpret inventory reports and process data accurately.
- Serve as receptionist for growers and visitors, providing courteous and professional service.
- Handle counter sales to growers and the public.
- Answer incoming phone calls and weigh trucks as needed.
- File processed and cancelled orders in an organized and timely manner.
- Work Monday through Friday and every other Saturday, rotating weekly with other clerks.
- Assist with processing Cull/Peeler Tickets.
- Process Sales Journals.
- Collaborate with Sales staff on PCIT Pendings.
Duties and Responsibilities – Other
- Understand, follow, and comply with company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company and customer information.
Adhere to staggered schedules and lunch rotations as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in shipping, receiving, or clerical support preferred.
- Experience in an agricultural, produce, or warehouse environment is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong data entry and organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers, drivers, and coworkers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in office and warehouse environments as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.67 - $21.86 per hour
