IPS Shelters is seeking a hands-on Plant Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations at our Denton, Texas facility. This individual will be responsible for driving production efficiency, maintaining a safe work environment, coordinating shop-floor personnel, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and to quality standards.
The Plant Manager serves as a key leader within the facility, working closely with Operations Management, Quality Assurance, Safety, and Production teams to support the manufacturing of modular shelter systems used in critical infrastructure and telecommunications applications.
This role is ideal for an experienced manufacturing or construction leader who enjoys being on the production floor, coaching employees, solving problems, and continuously improving operations.
Operations & Production Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise daily production activities across manufacturing work cells.
- Coordinate labor assignments to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor workflow, productivity, and staffing needs throughout the facility.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve efficiency and throughput.
- Ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available to support production activities.
- Participate in production planning meetings and communicate priorities to shop personnel.
- Track production progress and provide updates to Operations Management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
Safety Leadership
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the facility.
- Conduct daily safety observations and enforce company safety policies.
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and job hazard reviews.
- Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to OSHA and company requirements.
- Partner with the Safety Coordinator to investigate incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant manufacturing environment.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with company quality standards, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Support Quality Assurance inspections and corrective action activities.
- Verify employees follow approved manufacturing procedures.
- Assist with Intertek, customer, and internal quality audits as required.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor production personnel.
- Train new employees on safety, quality, and production procedures.
- Conduct performance coaching and provide ongoing feedback.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and professionalism throughout the facility.
- Assist with interviewing and onboarding production employees.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, modular building, industrial assembly, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices and OSHA requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and production schedules.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred:
- Experience with steel fabrication, modular construction, electrical assembly, or industrial manufacturing.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Forklift and aerial lift experience.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
- Experience managing production teams of 15–50 employees.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk production areas throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include heat, noise, and moving equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders and access elevated work platforms as needed.
