Charlotte Latin School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Upper School English Teacher to join our faculty beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time, 10-month position offers the opportunity to inspire and engage students in grades 9-12 through the study of literature, grammar, and composition.
Our Upper School English curriculum includes World Literature, Composition, American Literature, AP Literature, and a variety of semester-long themed English courses, providing students with a rich and diverse literary experience. The ideal candidate loves literature and will bring expertise across multiple genres, enthusiasm, and a student-centered approach to the classroom, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love of reading and writing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teach four sections of writing-intensive English

Partner with colleagues to create and update course curriculum

Within course teams, collaborate with colleagues toward consistency in grading practices

Assess students’ performance in a timely and consistent manner
-
Provide 1:1 support to students during office hours and before and after school

Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current within the field

Additional responsibilities may include sponsoring extra-curricular activities, advising, and/or coaching
Supervisory Responsibilities
Education and Experience

Three or more years of experience teaching English required

Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
