Duties
- Assist dentists chairside during procedures such as restorations, extractions, root canals, and prosthodontics with precision and efficiency.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly following dental sterilization procedures.
- Take and develop dental x-rays and medical imaging to aid in accurate diagnosis while adhering to infection prevention management standards.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Open Dental, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform vital signs assessment and document medical history updates to support comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures tailored to pediatric dentistry or general dentistry needs.
- Support administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and managing medical documentation with professionalism.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Registered Dental Assistant with current CPR/BLS licensure.
- Proven experience working in dental clinics with knowledge of dental assisting techniques and terminology.
- Proficiency in Typing, reading and written English and Spanish ; familiarity with Open Dental is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols including aseptic technique and dental sterilization procedures.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Knowledge of dental terminology relevant to oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatrics to assist effectively during diverse procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with team members including dental hygienists, dentists, and front-office staff.
