As we grow our HVAC division, we're looking for a skilled Install/Service Expert who shares our commitment to doing the job right the first time.
Position Summary
The HVAC Install/Service Expert is responsible for installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing residential (and light commercial) heating and cooling systems. You'll work directly with homeowners, providing honest assessments and upfront pricing while delivering the technical excellence our customers expect.
Key Responsibilities
- Install new HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and ductwork, in accordance with manufacturer specifications and local code
- Diagnose and repair residential heating and cooling systems, identifying the root cause rather than just the symptom
- Perform routine and precision maintenance tune-ups on furnaces and air conditioning systems, including those covered under our residential and commercial maintenance plans
- Communicate clearly with customers about findings, options, and itemized pricing before beginning any work, so there are no surprises
- Complete accurate, detailed paperwork and documentation for every job, including work performed, parts used, and warranty information
- Identify and recommend additional services or upgrades (e.g., tankless systems, smart thermostats) where genuinely beneficial to the customer
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked service vehicle
- Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 emergency service coverage
- Represent Top Tier Plumbing & Air professionally at all times, arriving on time, respecting the customer's home, and cleaning up after every job
Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in HVAC installation and/or service (residential preferred)
- EPA 608 Certification required
- NATE certification a plus, but not required
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigerants, electrical components, and building codes
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and solve problems in the field
- Comfortable using tablet/mobile-based dispatch and invoicing software
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
- Ability to work in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights as needed
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and reach for extended periods
Compensation & Benefits
- $22–$26 per hour based on experience, plus commission on qualifying installs and add-on services
