American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) position in Asheville, NC, requiring stepdown and telemetry experience with a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.

40-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC) located on the E4 floor of the Heart Tower at a large, 815-bed Level II trauma center and Magnet®-designated hospital in Asheville, NC

Primary patient population includes CV surgery and vascular surgery patients (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, lobectomy, thoracotomy, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy) with overflow medical cardiology patients (heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block)

Patient ratio of 1:5 RN-to-patient; PCT ratio is 1:13

Equipment includes Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps

EMR: Cerner
-
Day shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (12-hour shifts)

Minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday and/or Sunday) per 6-week schedule period

No on-call requirements

Floating to any stepdown unit (1:5 ratio), med/surg unit (1:6–7 ratio), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6 ratio) may be required

13-week contract

Active NC or compact RN license required
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment)

Minimum 2 years of recent RN clinical experience in the specialty

Stepdown experience required

Telemetry experience required
-
US SSN and DOB required for consideration

No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
-
Typical procedures include epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV Glucommander, and cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine)

Prior CV and vascular surgery experience (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) within the past year is preferred

CVICU experience is a plus

Day shift staffing includes 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, and 1.33 HUC; night shift includes 1 charge RN, 13 RNs, 4 PCTs, and 0.33 HUC

Scrub color requirements: all navy, white tops with navy bottoms, or all white

Holiday flexibility is required

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible
