Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Custodian to maintain cleanliness and order at a University. The ideal candidate will have experience in various cleaning methods and techniques, ensuring that all areas are well-kept and safe for employees and visitors. This role is essential in creating a welcoming environment through effective janitorial practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting in designated areas.
- Maintain floors through buffing, waxing, and polishing to ensure a clean and professional appearance.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and other common areas regularly.
- Handle waste disposal and recycling efforts efficiently.
- Conduct minor maintenance tasks as needed to ensure facilities are in good working order.
- Assist with set-up and breakdown of events or meetings as required.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to management promptly.
- Follow safety protocols while using cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Requirements
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with floor care techniques, including buffing and polishing.
- Experience in commercial cleaning or industrial cleaning environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of facilities maintenance practices is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Good physical stamina; ability to lift moderate weights and perform tasks that require standing for extended periods.
