Perennial Gardens is a Boston-based landscaping company serving some of the city's most beautiful properties. premium residential properties across Back Bay and Beacon Hill. Our mission is to elevate every property entrusted to us through exceptional stewardship.
The Role
We're looking for an Expert Fine Gardener to bring deep horticultural knowledge and meticulous hands-on care to a portfolio of premium residential properties. This is a role for someone who sees gardening as a craft — who can diagnose a struggling plant at a glance, who thinks about seasonal succession and design as much as pruning technique, and who takes real pride in leaving a property better than they found it every single visit.
You'll work closely with our team to maintain the horticultural standard our clients expect, while also serving as a source of plant knowledge and mentorship for the broader team.
What You'll Do
- Perform expert-level fine gardening across a portfolio of residential properties, including pruning, deadheading, seasonal cutback, soil care, and bed maintenance
- Diagnose plant health issues (pests, disease, nutrient deficiency, environmental stress) and recommend or implement treatment
- Maintain and refine container plantings and garden beds in line with each property's design intent
- Monitor irrigation needs and flag issues affecting plant health
- Advise on seasonal planting plans, plant selection, and succession
- Serve as a horticultural resource for crew members, sharing technique and plant knowledge in the field
- Communicate proactively with property managers and clients about the condition and needs of their gardens
- Uphold the meticulous, detail-oriented standard of care our clients expect on every visit
- Source and select plants and materials for property installs and refreshes
What You Bring
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in fine gardening, horticulture, or professional landscape maintenance
- Strong plant identification and diagnostic skills across perennials, shrubs, containers, and seasonal plantings
- An eye for design — you understand how plantings should look, not just how to keep them alive
- Comfort working independently and making sound judgment calls on-site
- A collaborative, team-first attitude and genuine care for the quality of your work
- Reliable transportation and ability to work outdoors in varying weather, spring through fall

- Experience with New England / Northeastern plant palettes and climate
