School-Based Therapist – Joplin School District
TITLE:
School-Based Mental Health Therapist
SALARY RANGE:
$55,000
DESCRIPTION:
ACCESS Family Care is seeking a licensed mental health professional to provide school-based therapy services to grades K-5 public school students in Joplin School District. This is a full-time salaried position with a 9.5-month work schedule that mirrors the public-school calendar.
A generous benefits package is offered for the entire calendar year.
The provider in this position will perform the following duties:
- Develop relationships and work collaboratively with teachers, school counselors, school resource officers, and administrative staff.
- Complete diagnostic intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for students, consistent with evidence-based practices.
- Provide mental health therapy and behavioral health services for students, designed to promote personal growth consistent with their treatment plans.
- Educate students and their parents/guardians regarding their diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and therapeutic process.
Working in a public school setting can be both challenging and deeply rewarding. Providers in this role must have a genuine passion for serving elementary-aged children. Successful candidates will bring relevant clinical experience with children, familiarity with therapy modalities appropriate for this age group, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to work independently while navigating complex school environments. This position also requires the physical stamina to move between multiple school buildings and the mental flexibility to adapt to the evolving rhythms and uncertainties of the school year. Ideal candidates will demonstrate energy, sociability, adaptability, and resilience. If you are seeking a dynamic role where you can make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of young people, this may be an excellent opportunity.
This position requires a Missouri license (LCSW, LMSW, LPC, PLPC, LMFT) and a master's degree in a behavioral health field from an accredited institution. Supervision toward independent licensure is available at no cost to provisionally licensed providers.
Due to the nature of the position, working remotely is not supported. Daily travel to the school will be required.
