Job Summary
Gemini Valve is seeking a highly skilled Prototype Machinist who will create, modify, and develop techniques to produce custom, high-precision parts for R&D, using, CAD/CAM software, CNC mills & lathes, grinding equipment and manual tools. Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot designs, ensure tight tolerances, and perform inspections on new components. In this role, the individual will rarely do the same task twice, working in a fast-paced environment that requires high flexibility and the ability to work with little direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabrication: Set up and operate CNC (mills/lathes) and manual machine tools to create complex, one-off prototypes from engineering drawings or CAD models.
- Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with designers to refine prototypes, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and suggest design for manufacturability (DFM) improvements.
- Precision & Quality: Utilize precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers) to ensure parts meet high-tolerance standards.
- Programming & Setup: Program CNC machines using G-Code, conversational programming or CAD/CAM software and perform manual machining when required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of CNC machine operation and manual machining techniques.
- Technical Drawing Proficiency: Ability to interpret complex blueprints and GD&T.
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience, programming and operating CNC equipment to produce complex components.
- Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking skills for troubleshooting, modifying parts, and adapting to changing design requirements.
Starting wage highly dependent on experience and skill.
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
