Role: Expanded Learning Paraprofessional – 2026–2027 School Year
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 2 PM – 6 PM
Locations: Charleston, North Charleston, Downtown Charleston, James Island, Johns Island, Mount Pleasant, and West Ashley.
Pay Range: $23 – $25/hr
Pay will vary by certification, school, and assignment. Long-term placements typically offer a higher rate than day-to-day work.

Role Requirements:
- Must hold an AA Degree
- State & federal background checks
- You must provide contact information for three references, at least one of which must be from a role involving work with children (non-family related)
You'll Stand Out If You:
- Have experience working in Special Education, including moderate to severe needs
- Are comfortable providing personal care support, including toileting assistance
- Have experience supporting students with behavioral needs, including eloping and de-escalation
- Have familiarity with assistive communication technology or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
- Are available Monday through Friday
What You'll Do:
- Provide direct support to students with special education needs in a structured learning program
- Assist with behavior management, transitions, and daily routines while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment
- Support students with personal care needs, including toileting assistance, as required
- Implement strategies for students who elope, ensuring safety indoors and outdoors
- Collaborate with program staff to support student communication needs and assist with assistive technology as directed
- Sitting, standing, and walking required; must be able to lift up to 30 lbs while safely assisting students
- Observe and communicate across varied environments, including indoor and outdoor settings
- Additional role requirements will be in the handbook and shared during the interview process
