The Environmental Services (EVS) Operations Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the daily operations of the Environmental Services department within a healthcare facility. This role leads EVS staff, ensures high standards of cleanliness, safety, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction, while overseeing staffing, budgeting, training, performance management, and operational efficiencies. The Operations Manager partners with hospital leadership to drive service excellence, improve processes, and maintain a positive patient and employee experience.
Pay: $80000-$90000/ HR

Operations Management
- Plan, organize, and direct daily Environmental Services operations to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Assign work, establish priorities, monitor productivity, quality, and timeliness.
- Adjust staffing and workloads based on operational needs.
Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and develop EVS associates to achieve departmental goals and customer satisfaction targets.
- Direct short- and long-term departmental initiatives in alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Serve as a resource for staff and hospital leadership.
Communication
- Maintain effective communication with staff, hospital leadership, and cross-functional departments.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, conflict resolution, and team-building support.
- Prepare reports and participate in administrative meetings.
Financial & Operational Accountability
- Support budget management and fiscal performance of assigned sites.
- Manage scheduling, attendance controls, staffing plans, and position controls.
- Ensure supplies and equipment are purchased through approved vendors.
- Maintain accurate operational and labor reports.
Service Excellence
- Promote a culture of customer service and patient satisfaction.
- Support patient experience initiatives and service recovery efforts.
- Drive continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
Human Resources
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and corrective action processes.
- Ensure compliance with labor agreements, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain employee engagement and training standards.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with healthcare safety regulations and infection control standards.
- Participate in hospital and ABM safety initiatives and committee
Education
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a High School Diploma/GED plus 5+ years of relevant management experience may be accepted.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in healthcare.
- Acute care hospital leadership experience preferred.
- Experience in a large academic medical center preferred.
- Union workforce management experience strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and other business software.
- Ability to analyze and utilize operational data for process improvement.
Leadership Competencies
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Experience managing employee performance, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Customer service and patient satisfaction focus.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Healthcare EVS leader with hospital operations experience, strong people-management skills, budget awareness, process improvement expertise, and a proven ability to lead large frontline teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
