Job Summary:
The Entry Level Grain Merchandiser directly reports to the Trader and has no supervisory responsibilities. The Entry Level Grain Merchandiser is a support role to the Trader and other Grain Merchandisers. Primary responsibilities are assisting with the procurement of grain commodities and learning the Grain Merchandiser role.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain the producer prospects database and lead sales pipeline processes.
- Provide superior customer service to producers, offering market information, current local conditions, pricing guidance, and assistance with logistics, marketing, and accounting.
- Learn and manage Futures positions, Spreads, and Inventory of inbound and outbound commodities.
- Facilitate timely and accurate communication of business information and market conditions to Management so we can make timing decisions that benefit the business.
- Collaborate with the Trader to forecast future business direction and opportunities for growth and margin expansion.
- Adhere to and demonstrate DuMond Grain’s core principles and strive to bring value to the team.
- Learn and execute the Origination Plan, inclusive of monthly/quarterly/annual objectives/KPI’s to meet or exceed annual origination metrics.
- Coordinate directly with grain and accounting teams to ensure precise communication and position coverage. Examples of this include all purchase contracts, current positions, volumes, and scheduled deliveries.
- Learn and utilize CRM software to maintain accurate stakeholder content.
- Learn and develop metrics to support Origination Plan compliance and updates.
- Collect and communicate all necessary customer and market feedback back to the DuMond team, ensuring appropriate responses and developments are implemented.
- Introduce new products, programs, and services to current and potential customers.
- Review commodity transaction documents for growers.
- Coordinate deliveries/pickups of grains utilizing AGRIS load numbers.
- Understand and communicate market conditions.
- Other duties, as assigned.
On-Site Training:
- Company merchandising process training & Grain Commodity training required.
- White Commercial Level I Basis Trading and Level II Expertise in Basis Trading training.
- White Commercial Mark to Market Grain Accounting training.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferred.
- CRM and inventory management software programs, highly preferred.
- Knowledge of AGRIS, highly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Basis Trading & Mark to Market Accounting
Work Environment & Hazards:
The work environment is primarily an office setting with low-risk exposure to airborne allergens and irritants common in an agricultural setting and the grain industry, with some limited outdoor exposure that carries a higher risk of allergens and irritants.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
