Bay State Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Services (BSVESS) is seeking an experienced Specialty Lead Veterinarian to join our leadership team. This role offers the opportunity to combine clinical excellence with leadership, helping to shape hospital culture, mentor veterinarians, and drive the continued growth of our specialty services. This role is a 10% - 20% administration position to be balanced with your current clinical role.
Working closely with the Group Medical Director, fellow Lead Veterinarians, and Senior Leadership Team, you will help ensure exceptional patient care, support doctor development, improve hospital performance, and strengthen relationships with clients and referring veterinarians.
What You'll Do-
Lead, mentor, and support BSVESS specialty veterinarians

Foster a collaborative, accountable, and positive team culture

Help recruit, onboard, and retain outstanding specialists

Maintain and advance high standards of patient care across specialties

Partner with leadership to drive departmental growth and operational excellence

Participate in strategic planning and hospital leadership initiatives

Support teaching and mentorship of doctors, externs, and staff

Collaborate with the Director of Client Experience to address client concerns
Clinical & Leadership Responsibilities
This is a hybrid leadership and clinical position, with approximately 50% of time spent providing direct patient care and 50% focused on leadership, team development, and hospital initiatives.
Qualifications-
Veterinary license in Massachusetts (or ability to obtain licensure)

6+ years of experience as a board certified small animal specialist (DACVIM , DACVECC, DACVR, DACVD, DACVO, DACVS)
