We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Structural Supervisor to join our team. Here at JC WELLS, LLC we are a small family owned company and not like alot of corporate companies. Our employees should be able to wear a few different hats if needed.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Structural Supervisor to oversee structural fabrication and installation activities in a large-scale shipbuilding environment. The ideal candidate will lead crews responsible for constructing, repairing, and modifying naval or commercial vessels while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Supervise structural trades including fitters, welders, and helpers.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily production activities.
- Ensure work is completed according to engineering drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Monitor productivity and maintain production goals.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce OSHA and company safety regulations.
- Inspect work for quality and compliance with shipyard standards.
- Coordinate with engineering, quality control, planning, and other departments to resolve production issues.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate employees.
- Manage manpower, overtime, and material requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce rework.
- Maintain accurate production reports and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Navy, Coast Guard, ABS, or customer specifications as applicable.
Qualifications Required
- 5+ years of structural shipbuilding experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and weld symbols.
- Strong knowledge of steel fabrication, fitting, welding, and ship construction methods.
- Experience coordinating multiple crews and meeting production schedules.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding industrial environment.
Preferred
- Experience in naval shipbuilding.
- Knowledge of NAVSEA standards.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Experience with QA/QC processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production tracking systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding.
- Work in confined spaces and at heights.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
