Life Enrichment Coordinator – Memory Care
Position Type: Full-Time
Department: Life Enrichment / Memory Care
We are seeking an energetic, compassionate, and creative Life Enrichment Coordinator to lead meaningful engagement and programming for residents within our Memory Care community.
The Life Enrichment Coordinator plays an important role in creating a positive, engaging environment where residents are encouraged to participate, connect, reminisce, and experience purpose throughout their day. This position requires someone who understands that successful Memory Care programming goes beyond simply keeping residents busy—it is about meeting residents where they are and creating meaningful moments based on their abilities, interests, routines, and life experiences.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, patient, dependable, creative, and comfortable working closely with residents living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and lead a well-rounded Memory Care life enrichment program seven days a week.
- Develop a monthly activity calendar that includes cognitive, physical, social, sensory, spiritual, creative, and recreational opportunities.
- Provide both group and individualized engagement based on resident abilities and preferences.
- Incorporate music, reminiscence, games, exercise, arts and crafts, sensory activities, outdoor activities, and other dementia-friendly programming.
- Learn residents' backgrounds, careers, hobbies, family histories, and interests and incorporate them into programming.
- Adapt activities for residents at different stages of dementia and varying functional abilities.
- Maintain an active presence within the Memory Care neighborhood and engage residents throughout the day—not only during scheduled activities.
- Coordinate special events, celebrations, holiday programs, themed events, and family engagement opportunities.
- Encourage family members to participate in community events and resident programming.
- Work closely with Memory Care staff to identify residents who may benefit from additional one-on-one engagement.
- Assist with creating a welcoming environment for new residents and helping them become comfortable with community routines.
- Maintain appropriate supplies and manage the Life Enrichment budget responsibly.
- Prepare and post monthly activity calendars and communicate upcoming programs to residents, families, and team members.
- Track resident participation and evaluate programming to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate entertainers, volunteers, community organizations, and outside programs when appropriate.
- Assist with resident outings and transportation coordination as needed.
- Ensure programming and documentation meet community policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in staff meetings, resident care discussions, and community events as requested.
- Support the overall operations of the Memory Care neighborhood and work collaboratively with all departments.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working with seniors, Memory Care residents, or individuals living with dementia strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in activities, recreation, life enrichment, senior living, healthcare, education, or a related field preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Creative, enthusiastic, organized, and able to independently develop programming.
- Must demonstrate patience, compassion, and respect when interacting with residents.
- Comfortable leading groups as well as providing one-on-one engagement.
- Ability to adjust activities based on residents' cognitive and physical abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, caregivers, and leadership.
- Must meet all applicable background screening and employment requirements.
- Valid driver's license may be required for resident outings.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with seniors and understands that some of the most meaningful moments in Memory Care may come from a conversation, a familiar song, folding towels together, looking through old photographs, taking a walk, or simply sitting with a resident.
The right person will bring energy, creativity, consistency, patience, and heart to the Memory Care neighborhood and will take ownership of creating an environment where residents have opportunities for purpose, connection, enjoyment, and meaningful engagement every day.
If you are passionate about enriching the lives of seniors and believe every resident deserves meaningful moments regardless of their level of memory loss, we would love to hear from you.
