Job Overview
Concentric Silicon is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to support the inspection and verification of electronic components and semiconductor products.
This is a hands-on inspection role focused on determining whether incoming electronic components meet customer, manufacturer, and internal quality requirements. The inspector will evaluate components using high-magnification digital microscopy, dimensional inspection equipment, X-ray imaging, XRF analysis, and other specialized inspection methods.
The ideal candidate is highly observant, comfortable working with small electronic components, able to follow detailed inspection procedures, and capable of documenting findings accurately. Previous electronics or semiconductor inspection experience is preferred, but candidates with strong quality inspection experience and a willingness to learn specialized component inspection techniques are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Perform incoming and final quality inspections on semiconductors, integrated circuits, connectors, capacitors, resistors, and other electronic components.
- Conduct detailed visual inspection under high magnification to evaluate component markings, logos, surface condition, leads, terminations, packaging, and other characteristics.
- Compare component markings, dimensions, construction, and physical characteristics against manufacturer datasheets and approved reference information.
- Perform dimensional inspection using digital measurement and vision inspection equipment.
- Operate specialized inspection equipment including digital microscopes, X-ray systems, XRF analyzers, and electronic component counting equipment.
- Review X-ray images for internal construction, lead frame configuration, die placement, bond wires, and other indicators used during component authentication.
- Perform XRF analysis to evaluate material composition and plating characteristics when required.
- Assist with counterfeit mitigation and authenticity inspections, including evaluation for resurfacing, remarking, inconsistent markings, physical alterations, and other suspect conditions.
- Perform or assist with additional inspection and testing activities such as resurfacing/solvent testing, solderability testing, and preparation of samples for destructive analysis.
- Verify manufacturer, manufacturer part number, quantity, date/lot codes, country of origin, packaging type, labels, and component condition.
- Accurately photograph and document inspection findings.
- Complete inspection records and reports in accordance with internal procedures and customer requirements.
- Identify and document nonconforming or suspect material and immediately escalate concerns to Quality leadership.
- Maintain proper handling, ESD protection, cleanliness, and traceability of electronic components throughout the inspection process.
- Follow established inspection procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and ESD requirements.
- Maintain inspection equipment and perform routine verification or calibration checks as required.
- Support continuous improvement of inspection processes and laboratory procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, inspection, electronics manufacturing, semiconductor inspection, or a related technical environment preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify very small differences in markings, surfaces, dimensions, packaging, and component construction.
- Experience using microscopes, digital vision systems, calipers, gauges, or other inspection equipment is preferred.
- Experience with electronic components, semiconductors, PCB assembly, electronics manufacturing, or component distribution is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturer datasheets, specifications, drawings, inspection criteria, and work instructions.
- Comfortable working with computers, digital images, inspection software, and electronic documentation.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures consistently while maintaining productivity and accuracy.
- Ability to recognize potential quality issues and escalate findings rather than making unsupported assumptions.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9120, AS6081, IDEA-STD-1010, ANSI/ESD S20.20, or electronic-component counterfeit mitigation practices is a plus, but not required.
- Experience with X-ray, XRF, digital microscopy, or advanced electronic-component inspection equipment is a plus; training can be provided.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and/or move packages weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to safely handle and move boxes, reels, trays, and other electronic component shipments within the inspection area.
- Ability to perform detailed inspection work requiring periods of sitting or standing and close visual attention.
