This is hands on cleaning position. The employee is expected to take ownership of the cleanliness of the cafe and to notice and address cleaning needs without waiting to be instructed.
Duties:
- Complete end of day dishwashing
- Sweep & mop floors
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies
- Dust and wipe down surfaces
- Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
- In summer, lock up sidewalk cafe tables & chairs
- Break down cardboard boxes and bring to recycling dumpster outside
- Perform minor repairs and basic maintenance tasks as needed
Skills:
- Experience in cleaning, sweeping, mopping and basic procedures to do so
- Motivated to work efficiently and quickly, slow workers don't work out
- Able to lift full garbage bags into outside dumpster
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness standards
- Actual ability to see dirt, smears, dust and not need to be shown where to clean
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks such as pulling around a mop bucket and standing for extended periods
