Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Reports to: Maintenance Engineer
Summary: As a member of the Maintenance Team, oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of
all physical property, including machines, mechanical systems, and buildings. Provides day-to-day
supervision of hourly maintenance staff in a proactive manner. The safety, development and retention of
your team is your highest priority. As the frontline leader in maintenance food safety, employee
engagement, teamwork and coaching are your responsibilities. Serves as a champion of personal and
food safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises personnel in the day-to-day maintenance operations of the business to achieve
operational and financial goals. Supervises in an appropriate manner regarding all aspects of
maintenance activities, including, prioritizing duties, delegating work assignments, and scheduling
employees to optimize production and sanitation functions, as necessary. Trains and provides an
environment for employees to achieve their maximum quality and productivity performance in their
respective positions.
- Lead efforts in assigned areas of responsibility related to loss prevention, risk management, USDA
compliance, and employee relations. Promotes department and company goodwill through proactive employee communication and employee involvement. As an active participant, coordinates
with People Operations the recruitment, selection, training & development, and retention of
qualified talent in all operational areas. Champions the training and development of existing staff to
ensure engagement and succession planning bench strength as appropriate.
- Keep records of equipment failures and share that information with the plant manager, while
coordinating and tracking downtime with production. Provide solutions for equipment failures to
minimize downtime. Manages the repair, installation and maintenance of machinery, conveyors and
equipment and the physical building to minimize downtime.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the plant’s overall preventative and predictive maintenance
program by ensuring that equipment receives scheduled maintenance. Details tasks and schedules
for the plant’s personnel during normal operating hours, scheduled outages, and forced outage
scenarios. Ensure any required documentation is completed. Prepares, proposes, and manages
budget elements relative to maintenance and capital, and ensures the maintenance of the
department’s tools, equipment, and spare parts inventory.
- Champion health and safety by maximizing a safe environment and maintaining a trained workforce.
Provides supervision and guidance to maintenance employees and outside contractors.
Education/Experience:
- Associates degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and relevant
experience.
- 3-5 years of plant maintenance management experience, preferably in food manufacturing

- Ability to interpret miscellaneous mechanical drawings and schematics, and to develop and
administer a functional Preventative Maintenance (PM) program.
- Understanding of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Electrical process in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with electrical systems, conveyors, power equipment vehicles within a manufacturing
facility.
- Excellent reading, communication, and organizational skills. Must be proficient in the use of a
Personal Computer (PC) and related business software. Ability to work independently with minimal
supervision.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to
write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small
group situations to other associates of the organization.
