The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and other laboratory specimens from patients of all ages while ensuring patient safety, specimen integrity, and excellent customer service. This position works closely with laboratory personnel, nursing staff, and providers to support accurate and timely diagnostic testing.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
- Correctly identify patients using approved identification procedures.
- Label, process, and transport specimens according to laboratory protocols.
- Ensure specimen quality and integrity for accurate testing.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Practice proper infection prevention and universal precautions.
- Enter specimen information accurately into the laboratory information system.
- Assist with laboratory clerical duties as needed.
- Stock supplies and maintain inventory within the laboratory.
- Provide courteous, compassionate service to patients, visitors, and coworkers.
- Follow all hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, OSHA standards, and laboratory procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a Phlebotomy training program preferred.
- Previous hospital or clinical phlebotomy experience preferred.
- National phlebotomy certification preferred but not required.
- Current CPR certification preferred.
- Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and compassionate with anxious patients.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Basic computer and electronic medical record skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

- Weekend, holiday, and on-call rotation may be required based on department needs.
