JOB OVERVIEW
Dakota Matting is seeking an experienced Truck Driver with flatbed and lowboy experience to safely transport construction mats, equipment, and materials to job sites across the region. This role requires comfort with out-of-town travel, hands-on load securement, and a strong safety mindset in outdoor, active job-site environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate flatbed and lowboy trailers to transport timber, crane, and composite mats, equipment, and materials to and from job sites
- Properly load, secure, and tarp/strap loads in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues
- Navigate active construction, energy, and environmental job sites, including off-road and rough terrain conditions
- Coordinate with dispatch, site supervisors, and crews on delivery schedules and site logistics
- Travel out of town and stay overnight as required by project locations
- Maintain accurate logs, delivery paperwork, and hours-of-service records
- Assist with unloading and mat placement/removal on-site as needed
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE
JOB REQUIREMENTS
At Dakota, we take on and execute some of the most challenging access projects in the country. To help us successfully execute our projects, we are looking for a Truck Driver with these qualifications:
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record
- Minimum 2+ years of verifiable flatbed and lowboy driving experience
- Experience securing oversized/heavy loads (chains, straps, binders, tarps)
- Willingness and ability to travel out of town, including extended stays
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active job sites
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and hours-of-service requirements
- Physically able to lift, load, and secure heavy materials
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Experience hauling mats and heavy equipment is a plus.
