The Front Desk Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the front desk and reception team. This position ensures exceptional customer service, efficient patient flow, accurate scheduling, insurance verification, staff training, and compliance with practice policies and procedures. The Front Desk Supervisor serves as a resource for reception staff, assists with escalated patient concerns, and works closely with clinical and administrative leadership to support efficient practice operations.
Essential Functions
- Monitor appointment scheduling accuracy and provider template utilization.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new reception employees.
- Conduct performance coaching and assist with employee evaluations.
- Handle escalated patient concerns and customer service issues professionally.
- Ensure accurate collection of copayments, deductibles, and outstanding balances.
Education and/or experience
High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of medical office, reception, customer service, or healthcare
experience required.
- Minimum one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with appointment scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and
patient check-in/check-out processes required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-provider healthcare environment.
Total Rewards
The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Chesapeake Specialty Care salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
