Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to take ownership of plant reliability and equipment performance across all systems — including balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts, and bearings. This is a hands-on role requiring seasoned technical judgment, the ability to diagnose and resolve complex failures, and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance. Must be willing to travel to other plant locations. Reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preventive maintenance programs and perform advanced repair/rebuild of major equipment: balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, compressors, forklifts, skid steers, and building systems
- Rapidly diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures to minimize downtime
- Maintain and manage Daily Equipment Inspection Reports (DEIR) and maintenance backlog
- Develop and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules; proactively communicate resource and timeline needs to the Maintenance Manager
- Evaluate and ensure quality of third-party repairs and rebuilds
- Operate with a high degree of autonomy, prioritize competing demands, and maintain a safe, organized work environment
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a production or recycling facility
- Strong working knowledge of single- and three-phase electrical systems, electrical control systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air compressor systems
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of industrial equipment and vehicles
- Welding experience and fabrication skills preferred
- Must provide own basic hand tools
- Must be 18+ and legally eligible to work in the United States
- Must be willing to travel to other plant locations
Work Environment
Production-based recycling facility environment. Requires physical activity including pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, climbing ladders, and standing on concrete. Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and weather extremes is expected.
