Position Summary
The OB/GYN Sonographer performs diagnostic gynecologic and obstetric ultrasound examinations while exercising independent judgment and technical expertise. This role involves evaluating female reproductive anatomy and fetal anatomy, assisting physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures, documenting findings, and communicating results to providers to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Essential Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations.
- Evaluate fetal anatomy and female reproductive anatomy using sonographic equipment.
- Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided procedures, including but not limited to:
- Saline infusion sonohysterography (SIS)
- IUD placements and removals
- Other ultrasound-guided gynecologic procedures
- Communicate findings clearly and professionally with referring and interpreting physicians.
- Upload images to the Viewpoint system and prepare preliminary reports.
- Review schedules, patient histories, and medical records to ensure exam readiness.
- Prepare and maintain ultrasound examination rooms and equipment.
- Ensure proper cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of sonography equipment.
- Monitor patient comfort, dignity, and safety throughout examinations.
- Maintain accurate documentation and charting.
- Comply with all OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and organizational policies.
- Follow AIUM standards and best practices for ultrasound imaging.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to provide outstanding patient care.
Qualifications Required Education & Credentials
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- Current ARDMS certification in:
- OB/GYN
- Abdomen
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- Two or more years of sonography experience preferred.
