Carabotta | Steakley, PLLC is a boutique civil litigation defense law firm representing clients throughout the State of Florida. We are growing rapidly and are looking for candidates who want to work with a group of bright, determined and fun individuals.
We are seeking a highly motivated Paralegal with experience in insurance defense and the desire to continue to learn as the scope of our business expands. Successful candidates will support our attorneys in defending civil litigation matters including all aspects of our current caseload of homeowners, bodily Injury or personal injury claims.
Under general supervision, responsibilities will include the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage cases through all phases of litigation, including discovery, and trial preparation
- Draft, review and file legal documents, including but not limited to complaints, responses to complaints, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests and responses;
- Support Attorneys by gathering, analyzing and organizing information;
- Maintain good working relationships with attorneys, outside departments, courts, clients and third parties;
- Manage the E-filing and service of court documents for assigned caseload;
- Coordinate and track deadlines, court filings, and case calendars;
- Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, medical providers, and opposing counsel;
- Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including preparing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders;
- Summarize medical records, bills, depositions, and discovery materials;
- Assist with scheduling (depositions, hearings, mediations, etc.) and calendaring as needed;
- Maintain and organize case files;
- Assist with settlement documentation and disbursements;
- Ability to complete projects and specific assignments as requested by management;
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or higher, and/or a Paralegal Certification preferred;
- Minimum 2-4 year's experience as a Paralegal required;
- Minimum 2-4 year's experience handling insurance defense cases;
- Extensive experience of state rules and procedures;
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently;
- Experience drafting litigation documents and managing discovery;
- Knowledge or the ability to learn Microsoft and/or Google suite of programs including, but not limited to Word/Google Docs, Excel/Google Sheets, PowerPoint/Google Slides;
- Knowledge or the ability to learn case management software and internal best practices/standards set by the firm;
- Must be detail-oriented with the ability to follow through assigned tasks independently in a fast paced environment;
- Must be team player, who is flexible, and willing to perform other tasks as as needed; bonus if you can have fun while you do.

- Excellent English written and oral communication skills, Spanish is a plus;

Compensation:
- Commensurate salary upon experience.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
