Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks on over-the-road (OTR) regional routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload freight such as refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, flatbed loads, tankers, or other specialty cargo with precision and care.
- Use GPS navigation to plan optimal routes, ensuring timely deliveries while complying with all traffic laws and safety standards.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on manual transmission trucks to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns before departure and after delivery.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using manual handling techniques or equipment like forklifts when necessary; ensure proper documentation for all shipments.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations when transporting dangerous goods.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or safety concerns during trips.
Experience
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers in regional or OTR routes preferred.
- Proven delivery driver experience with knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks or similar heavy-duty vehicles is highly desirable.
- Understanding of FMCSA regulations related to commercial trucking and hazardous materials transportation; Hazmat certification is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient delivery schedules.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely; forklift certification is advantageous but not required.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations concerning driver hours of service (HOS), load securement standards, and dangerous goods transportation ensures compliance at all times.
