NURSEFirst is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join a couple of our premier physician practice partners in the Knoxville, TN and Sevierville, TN area. Position Summary
As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting physicians and delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical and communication skills while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and a patient-first attitude.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for examinations and procedures according to physician preferences.
- Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, and other clinical information.
- Perform clinical procedures including:
- Phlebotomy
- Injections
- EKGs
- Holter monitor placement
- Assist physicians with examinations and in-office procedures.
- Administer medications as directed and provide patient education regarding treatments and care plans.
- Perform telephone nursing duties, including:
- Patient triage
- Prior authorizations
- Referrals
- Prescription requests
- Contact patients regarding test results and physician instructions.
- Prepare and maintain patient medical records as needed.
- Schedule patient appointments while maximizing provider efficiency.
- Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms and clinical work areas.
- Follow all OSHA, HIPAA, and company compliance standards.
- Adhere to office-specific protocols and workflows.
- Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and operational excellence.
- Maintain professionalism, teamwork, and strict confidentiality at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by physicians, site leadership, or administrative staff.
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a physician office or outpatient clinic preferred.
- Strong clinical skills including phlebotomy, injections, EKGs, and patient care.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical office.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and electronic medical records.
- Reliable, professional, and team-oriented.
