Responsibilities
- Administer IV infusions, medications, and therapies with precision, adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and review of medical histories to develop tailored care plans.
- Educate patients and caregivers on infusion procedures, medication management, and safety measures to promote adherence and confidence.
- Monitor patient responses during treatments, promptly identifying and managing adverse reactions or complications such as acute pain or allergic responses.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, pharmacists, and case managers to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide specialized care for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those requiring hospice or palliative medicine.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with relevant state boards.
- Proven experience in IV infusion therapy, including venipuncture and catheter care.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and aseptic techniques essential for safe infusion practices.
- Experience working with EHR systems familiarity with medical documentation standards like ICD coding (ICD-9/10).
- Background in home care, hospital medicine, critical care (ICU or Level I/II trauma centers), or emergency medicine is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and respond effectively to urgent situations such as acute pain management or infectious disease concerns.
- Excellent communication skills for educating patients and collaborating with healthcare teams across various settings including long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or outpatient clinics.
