Reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions Operations, the Assistant Director of Admissions Operations provides leadership, oversight, and operational accountability for admissions processing and services at Lamar University. This position serves as an operational auditor of the admissions process, ensuring workflows are accurate, efficient, compliant, and aligned with institutional goals.
The Assistant Director is responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of daily operations, identifying trends, assessing risks, conducting audits, and recommending process improvements that enhance service, efficiency, and data integrity. This role requires a leader who is committed to learning all aspects of admissions operations, understanding the work of the staff they supervise, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
The Assistant Director provides leadership and support to admissions staff, utilizes data to inform decision-making, develops reporting mechanisms to evaluate performance and outcomes, and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure admissions operations remain adaptable and effective.

Leadership & Staff Development: Provides direct and indirect supervision to a staff of approximately 20 full-time employees.

Operational Oversight & Auditing: Serves as an operational auditor for Admissions Operations by regularly reviewing processes, workflows, decisions, and outcomes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.

Conducts routine and targeted audits of admissions records, processing procedures, system configurations, and staff practices.

Process Improvement & Strategic Planning: Evaluates existing workflows and recommends operational efficiencies that improve service, accuracy, and productivity.

Leads implementation of process improvements within Slate, Banner, and related systems.

Collaborates with leadership to identify long-term operational goals and develop strategies to support departmental success.

Supports change management initiatives and assists with implementation of new technologies, procedures, and best practices.

Reporting & Data Analysis: Develops, maintains, and analyzes operational reports and dashboards to monitor departmental performance.

Utilizes data to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and support informed decision-making.

Monitors and manages the collection, integrity, and reporting of admissions data.

Admissions Operations & Compliance: Oversees the accuracy and efficiency of admissions processes within Slate, Banner, and related systems.

Provides resolution to complex admissions situations and operational challenges.

Protects the confidentiality and integrity of student records and institutional data.
Physical Requirements: With or without accommodation:

Job Conditions:

Ability to travel and work a varied schedule with flexible hours including some weekends and evenings.

Enrollment in and successful completion of MGMT 3311 Leadership Essentials within the first six months of employment.
